Start with a source you are allowed to save
A downloader does not grant rights in someone else's media or bypass access controls. Use public or authorized material and follow the source's terms. Login-walled sources may require a browser session you already have permission to use.
Choose the shortest capture route
- 1
Use the browser extension
On the page you want, open the Chrome or Safari extension, choose whether to run a Workflow, and add it to Media Mill.
- 2
Paste one or more links
Use Add in the app for a batch, or menu-bar Quick Add when you do not need the Library window.
- 3
Pick the outcome
Add only for a retained source, or choose a Workflow for a transcript, research brief, captions, cleaned audio, or another result.
- 4
Follow the run in Activity
The download and later steps stay visible. A partial download can resume from retained data when possible.
Skip downloading when the media is already on your Mac
Import the local video or audio file directly. Media Mill copies it into the Library, leaves the file you selected unchanged, and can run the same Workflow used for a downloaded source.
Expect the source boundary to change
Supported sites depend on the fetching engine and the source's current behavior. No responsible downloader can promise that every URL will keep working. When a link fails, check the source page, app version, engine status, and whether the site requires an authorized browser session.
