What Unmarked supports today

Features verified for the App Store listing

Dark interface

Every theme has a dark palette, and Unmarked can follow the Mac’s appearance.

Without color alone

Links are underlined; checkboxes keep their shape; quotes have a bar; code sits in a distinct surface.

Reduced motion

The app uses no movement effects. Its brief interface changes are opacity fades.

Keyboard and larger text

Reading and writing text can be raised to 32 pt. The editor uses standard macOS text controls and exposes commands through menus, including Insert Table with ⌥⌘T. Icon-only controls have spoken labels.

Screen readers

Read mode presents clean document text without Markdown punctuation. Local image alt text is passed to the accessibility system in both Read and Write modes.

Write mode remains verbose with a screen reader: hidden Markdown marks such as heading signs and raw link addresses are still announced. Heading navigation in the rotor and keyboard control of Read-mode checkboxes also need more work. We do not declare VoiceOver support in the App Store while those gaps remain.

Contrast

Body text has been measured to pass WCAG AA across the built-in themes. Some secondary text and dimmed Markdown marks do not yet reach the same threshold, so we do not declare Sufficient Contrast in the App Store.
